Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is highly effective for nursing an infected tooth back to health. Once treated, you can feel safe in the knowledge that your oral health is protected and your symptoms are relieved. Our dentists have years behind them in managing and treating root canal-related issues, which involves a great degree of clinical skill.

The living tissues at the heart of a tooth are prone to infection in circumstances such as if you’ve suffered advanced decay or trauma. Fortunately, this isn’t the end of the road for your tooth. Coming in to see us as early as you can if you have symptoms of an infected tooth can stop it from needing to be taken out.

Root canal treatment is a really straightforward procedure that reverses problems within a matter of hours after the procedure. Once stabilised, your tooth can be crowned so that you can love your smile and enjoy the benefits of having a functional tooth again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my tooth is infected?

Teeth can be tricky, as they don’t always indicate there is a problem until symptoms have begun to interrupt your daily life. This is why we are always reminding our patients never to miss their routine appointments with us. During these, we can identify any advancing problems before they become problematic.

When an infected tooth does cause symptoms, these can range from a bad taste in your mouth and tooth discolouration to increased sensitivity and intense pain.

What happens during my treatment?

The aim of root canal treatment is to make sure your tooth is infection-free. Once we have given it a thorough clean to remove the infected tissue, your tooth is sealed and restored with a beautiful bespoke crown.

How will I feel after treatment?

Root canal treatment has become highly efficient in recent years. After a couple of hours of rest, you should feel able to get on with your normal routine.

I’m a little nervous – can you help?

In many cases, simply enlightening patients on what to expect from treatment can help to relax them. However, we completely understand that some patients need a helping hand to have the treatment they need. We can offer IV sedation to help you relax throughout.

You will find our team of dentists to be considerate, kind and professional individuals who care immensely about making you feel comfortable.

Can root canal treatment treat an abscess?

Yes. The pus at the site of the infection will be drained away during treatment. By removing this pus, the abscess can begin to heal.

What happens if my tooth becomes re-infected?

Root canal treatment is usually very successful. However, in the event of the infection returning, we may be able to perform re-root canal treatment.

Do you offer finance for dental treatment?

Yes, we offer interest-free and interest-bearing finance so that high-quality dental care is accessible to all our patients.

I’m embarrassed about coming in – can you help?

We understand that coming in to seek implant-based treatments is a huge life event. Our clinicians are compassionate people who encounter many patients who feel self-conscious about the condition of their mouths. We understand how debilitating lost teeth can be, particularly on your confidence levels and your everyday happiness. We are very happy to book you in for a practice tour or an appointment with our treatment coordinator in a non-clinical setting before your consultation.

Who performs my treatment?

Multiple members of the Denmark Street Dental clinical team will be involved in the planning and treating your dental care. This includes dentists, dental nurses, dental technicians and sedation dentists, who work seamlessly together to deliver predictable results.

Can you offer sedation?

We do. Sedation is invaluable for helping extremely anxious patients relax during their treatment.

Why should I choose Denmark Street Dental for root canal treatment?

Our dentists are forward thinkers. Using the most innovative technology and coupling this with their skill and know-how, they can perform restorative procedures such as root canal treatment with great skill and efficacy.
